Dynabook Laptop Protection & Recommended Cases
When selecting protection for your student’s school-issued Dynabook laptop, here is what you need to know about its built-in durability and options for additional protection.
Built-in Durability & Coverage
The Dynabook is engineered to meet MIL-STD-810H military durability standards, meaning its aluminum alloy chassis is built to withstand standard everyday use, including minor bumps, drops, and vibrations. Additionally, every student device is backed by our included accidental damage coverage, so custom snap-on hardshell cases are generally not necessary.
Carrying & Protection Recommendations
If your student’s backpack does not already feature a padded device compartment, we do recommend adding a slim protective sleeve or case for transport to and from school.
Examples of effective, cost-friendly options include:
-
Semi-Rigid Clamshell Case: A MOSISO Semi-Rigid Clamshell Case provides structure and impact resistance.
-
Padded Sleeve: A standard MOSISO Padded Laptop Sleeve offers lightweight scratch and drop defense inside a bag.
Note: You do not need to purchase these exact brands or listings—any similar 14-inch protective sleeve or clamshell case will work well!
Device Options for Incoming Freshmen
There are two options available for families purchasing a laptop this year. Families may choose to purchase the device directly through St. X, in which case the laptop will be preconfigured for seamless use with the school’s systems. We encourage careful consideration before opting to bring/purchase a device, as purchasing through St. X provides financial advantages and automated setup designed to simplify both your experience and your son’s.
Alternatively, families may choose to bring/purchase a device from an external vendor and configure it independently using the provided instructions.
For laptops purchased through St. X, there will be two designated ordering windows:
- First window: April 1 – April 13
- Second window: April 17 – April 27 - Order window closes at 10:00 A.M.
- Third window: June 3 - June 12 - Order window closes at 2:00 P.M.
Please note that due to fluctuations in memory pricing, laptops ordered during the first window may be less expensive than those ordered during the second window.
