DACEY, JOYCE (NEE FLYNN) of Union Township (formerly of Anderson Township) passed away February 16, 2018. Beloved wife of almost 60 years to John C. (Jack) Dacey ’53. Loving mother of Lisa (Bryan) Horn, Neil (Linda) Dacey ’78, Kadie (Chris) Francis, Molly (Tim) DeFosse, and Colleen Caden Dacey. Adoring grandmother of Drew (Holly) Hubbard, Megan Hubbard, Kara Dacey, Quint (Janice) Dacey, Cory Francis, Brenna Horn, Paige Francis, Grace DeFosse, Kellie (Frank) Jones, and Carlie Francis. Dear great-grandmother to Noah Hubbard, Carter Mincer, Ryder Hubbard and Tessa, Emi, Ainsley, and Jack Jack Dacey. Devoted sister to Beth Gibson, sister-in-law to Sheila (Meemo) Hein and caring aunt to several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. and Helen L. Flynn, and her brother, William J. Flynn.  Joyce was always the life of the party and was a presence wherever she went. While her children were growing up, she spent many days on the soccer sidelines, as well as volunteering at school. She was an avid bridge player and spent many years playing with the Meadowbright ladies. She loved to shop and when getting to stores became more challenging, she was incredibly thankful for both QVC and UPS. Joyce had a quick wit and a contagious laugh. She was a fiercely independent thinker and a quick decision maker - traits she instilled in her children and grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.  Visitation will be held Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 6-8 pm at E.C. Nurre Funeral Home, 177 W. Main St. (SR 125), Amelia, 45102. MIDDLETON, DALE HAYDEN, Cincinnati - Age 90. June 14, 1927 to February 17, 2018. Son to the late James and Jenny (Coffey) Middleton. Survived by children, Vicki (Gerard R.) Borgman ’72 , and Janet (Thomas W.) Bosse; grandchildren, Matthew (Tricia) Borgman ’99, Meghan (Kyle) Wiesner and Jason Bosse ’94 along with 2 great-grandchildren on the way. Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marie Hall; and sister, Hattie. Catherine was born on November 22, 1942 to Eugene and Catherine (Ott) Stenger. Devoted mother of Nicholas (Shelly) Humbert ’88; cherished grandmother of Kaitlyn, Benjamin and Andrew Humbert; sister of Richard (Joyce) and David (Sue) Stenger, Marjorie (Franz) Wilke, Susan (Richard) Mack and the late James (Eileen), Thomas (Dorothy) Stenger and Rita Bailey; sister in law of Janet (Chuck) Goldick and the late Donald (Rose) Humbert. Catherine was a kidney transplant recipient and was grateful for the 18 years of life she received, thanks to her donor. Visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Church, 8815 E. She attended North College Hill High School and the University of Cincinnati, where she was the first woman to graduate from the College of Mechanical Engineering. Joan delivered Meals on Wheels in the Clifton area for many years and was active in many other organizations. ALUMNUS- 1948

SMITH, THOMAS R. ’48 Cincinnati - Thomas R. Smith of Cincinnati passed away on February 16, 2018, at the age of 88. He was born to the late Thomas H. and Hilda (Gerwin) Smith. Tom was a graduate of St. Xavier High School, Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati College of Law. He was a Captain in the National Guard and an Army First Lieutenant in the Korean War. After law school, Tom worked in private practice and served as Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio. Tom was an avid fisherman, reader, bird-watcher and fan of the Xavier Muskies basketball team. He was a long-time member of the AXE Club and the Xavier Musketeer Club.  He is survived by his sons Matthew (Theresa) Smith ’83, Stephen, James (Lisa), Thomas (Judi) Smith ’82 and by his daughter Susan Kost (John Barton). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, including Nathan Smith ’15, his brother Larry (Arlene) and his sister-in-law Phyliss. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dick.   Tom's body has been donated to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. NUTINI, DR. ANDREW J. ’73. Age 62, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Andy was surrounded by his many friends and beloved family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Carl and Beatrice Nutini ’37. By his side was his loyal and loving wife of 38 years, Nancy Nutini. Also next to him was his son, Nick and his fiancé Jeana Link; daughters, Kristen and Michele Nutini, and Lauren Schoenfeld, and his son-in-law, Nick Schoenfeld; and his 5 grandchildren, who brought him so much joy. He also leaves behind his brothers, Dr. Patrick (Karen) Nutini, Casey (Katherine) Nutini, and Mike (Connie) Nutini; and his Aunt, Mary Ann Nutini. Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Monroe, Ohio, between 4-7 pm on Sunday, Feb. 18. A short visitation between 9-10 am will be followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am on Monday at the church. Burial at Spring Hill Cemetery and a luncheon at the church will follow. HOELSCHER, WALTER J.  Naples, FL  Walter J. Hoelscher 81, of Naples, FL died Thursday, October 12, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Walter was born June 22, 1936 in Union, MO as son of the late William M. and Emma A. (nee Haberberger) Hoelscher. He had been a resident of Naples since 1995 moving from Chesterfield, MO.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and currently was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Walter also volunteered for many years at St. Vincent de Paul Society in Bonita Springs.   He received his Bachelor of Science in Business and Accounting. In the early 70's he started his own firm, Walter J. Hoelscher, CPA, PC in Chesterfield, MO and retired in 2000.  He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara A. (nee Williamson) Hoelscher of Naples, FL; one son, Michael J. Hoelscher and his wife, Katrina of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters, Lorraine Peebles of Sullivan, MO and Geraldine Dueker of Union, MO and four grandchildren, including Mitchell Hoelscher ’19, Cheryl Manley-Tiberio and her husband, Chris of New Orleans, LA, Shannon Manley of New Haven, CT, Kaitlyn Manley of Stevenson, MD and Mitchell Hoelscher of Cincinnati, OH. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Dr. Mark D. (Annette) Manley, MD of Cincinnati, OH.     He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Susan A. Born October 10, 1940 in Portsmouth, OH, daughter to the late Paul M. and Eula M. (nee Keene) Weaver. Peacefully passed away on February 12, 2018, at the age of 77, surrounded by her family. Judy worked as a Registered Nurse with Good Samaritan Hospital and Veterans Hospital before becoming a full time mother to her five boys. Later in life she continued her professional career working alongside her husband at his medical practice. While Judy enjoyed a variety of hobbies and activities, the most important part of her life was the time spent and the memories made with her family. Visitation will take place Friday, February 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Spring Grove Funeral Home, 4389 Spring Grove Ave., and from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17 at St. Boniface Church, 1750 Chase Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
