The Varsity Volleyball team entered the week with a four match win streak after defeating Lakota East and Fenwick last Saturday in a tri-match at Fenwick High School.  The Bombers hosted the Roger Bacon Spartans on Monday and then traveled to Anderson to take on McNicholas HS on Wednesday.

St. Xavier made quick work of the Spartans on Monday night as they rolled to a 3-0 win by scores of 25-12, 25-8 and 25-19.  The Bombers were led by senior Ryan Hilvert who converted 10 kills, 5 aces, 4 digs and 1 block.  Senior Will Connaughton contributed with 9 kills, 1 block and 1 dig while junior Tommy Thaxton had 8 kills and 2 blocks.  Seniors Jack Sorce and Simba Mandizha each had 5 kills while Sorce also contributed with 24 assists.  Mandizha also recorded 3 aces and 5 digs.  Junior Ben Moeller led the team in digs with 8 total while senior Henry Huber had 6 digs of his own.

The Bombers traveled to Anderson Township to take on another GCL Co-Ed school, McNicholas High School, on Wednesday night.  St. Xavier and the Rockets battled in the 1st set but the Bombers came out victorious 25-23.  St. Xavier then made quick work in sets two and three with 25-16 wins in each.  The Bombers were led by Connaughton who record 11 kills, 6 digs, 4 blocks and 1 ace.  Hilvert contributed with 10 kills and 1 ace while Huber led the way in digs with 12 total.  Senior Leo Kastner led the way with assists with 21 while Sorce had 17.  Sorce led the way in aces with a total of 3.

St. Xavier plays their 3rd match of the week on Friday, April 27 at LaSalle High School as they look to improve on their 1-1 record in the GCL South.  The Bombers already beat the Lancers on April 16 by a score of 3-0.  St. Xavier still faces Moeller twice, once at home on 5/1 and once on the road on 5/11 and Elder at home on 5/4 to round out GCL South play.
