For the first time in St. X history, four AquaBombers placed in the top eight in diving. Senior Josh Knapke’s runner-up performance led the way and earned him a return trip to Canton next week. He was joined by Ben Cutforth (SO) in 6th, Will Behimer (FR) 7th, and Jacob Rodriguez (JR) 8th. It was truly a historic night for athletes, coaches, family, teammates and fans, many of whom journeyed to Oxford to witness the event.
Knapke’s score of 478.85 was the highest by a St. X diver in at least 20 years. Cutforth’s 379.40 points was also a personal best.
“I am so proud of these guys and what they have accomplished,” expressed a very happy diving coach Brandon Unthank.
“When we say St. Xavier Swimming and Diving we mean it. Eight divers on the team show the growth in so many ways of the total program. I speak for all the coaches and athletes when I say, ‘well done’,” concluded head coach Tim Beerman.
“Their performances will have National implications,” noted coach Tom Keefe.
