The Bowling Bombers looked to stretch their win streak to 5 in a row this season with a GMC/GCL matchup against Lakota East at Mason Bowl. St. X took the lead first after a 1,024 in the first individual game, led by seniors John Faisant (267) and Matthew Molinsky (215, 400 series). Lakota East couldn’t keep up after scoring a 979 in the first individual game, led by Josh Knull (257) and Dan LaFres (197). The Bombers fell off from their first game by scoring a 958 in the second individual game. High scores for St. X were senior Ian Beck’s 218 (410 series), and a pair of 202 games by senior John Faisant (469 series) and sophomore Garrett Litzinger. The Thunderhawks took the lead after scoring a 1,015 in the second individual game. High scores for Lakota East were Dan LaFres with a 248 (447 series), Jay Hayes with a 236. The Bombers trailed the Thunderhawks by 12 pins, 1,994 to 1982, heading into bakers.
St. X closed the door on Lakota East with baker games of 196, 178, 211, and 171, totaling 756. The Thunderhawks lost their small lead after baker games of 170, 164, 158, and 186, totaling 678. The Bombers won the match after coming back in bakers by the final score of 2,738 to 2,672. The Bombers now sit at 9-4 (6-3 GCL) and move on to play in the Muskingum University High School Tournament at Sunrise Strikes in Zanesville, OH on Saturday, January 16 at noon.
