The #4 Bowling Bombers looked to start out the new year strong against #3 Oak Hills at Western Bowl. Oak Hills took an early lead with a 955 in the first individual game, led by Alex Rieger with a 278 and CJ Martini with a 201. The Bombers started off slow with an 887 in the first individual game, led by Garrett Litzinger with a 213. The Highlanders fell off in the second game with an 897 in the second individual game, high games for Oak Hills were Alex Rieger’s 187 (467 series) and CJ Martini’s 184 (385 series). St. X took the lead after the second individual game with a score of 1,013. High games were 227 by Reed Valentino, 220 by Garrett Litzinger (433 series), and 219 by Jared Tuerck. The Bombers found themselves ahead by 48 pins.
The Bombers started off slow in bakers with a 171, but then recovered with games of 201, 224, and 199 totaling 795. The opposite could be said for the Highlanders, with baker games of 213, 198, 160, and 193. The Bombers closed all but 4 frames across the 4 baker games solidifying their victory. St. X got their first win vs Oak Hills in program history by the final score of 2,695 to 2,616. Varsity now sits at 8-4 (6-3 GCL) and moves on to play in the Buckeye High School Classic at HP Lanes in Columbus on Saturday, January 9 at 9am.
