The Water Polo Bombers entered the State Championship weekend ranked as the #1 team in Ohio.  They looked to back that ranking up as the #1 seed at the State Tournament at Mason HS.  They were granted a bye in the first round and waited to find out who their first opponent would be between #9 seeded Worhtington Kilbourne and #8 seeded Sycamore HS.  Kilbourne pulled off the minor upset by a score of 11-6 which set up the 3rd meeting between the Bombers and Kilbourne of the season.  St. Xavier won the first two matchups at the Mason Invitational by a score of 17-2 and at the Milford Invitational by a score of 16-4

The Bombers got off to a quick start in the Quarterfinals game and never looked back as they beat Kilbourne by a score of 17-1 to advance to the State Semifinals.  Their opponent in the State Semifinals was Toledo St. Francis as they earned their spot by beating Princeton 19-2 and the host school, Mason, 17-9.  The Bombers had not played St. Franics during the regular season but St. Xavier jumped on them early and led 6-3 at the half.  The third quarter was much of the same as St. Xavier led 14-4 heading into the 4th quarter.  St. Xavier increased their lead during the final quarter and won the game 17-5 to advance to the State Championship game against the #2 seeded Upper Arlington HS Bears.

St. Xavier and Upper Arlington only faced each other one time during the regular season which was a 12-7 victory by the Bombers at Upper Arlington.  The Bears came into the game looking to avenge that loss and raise the State Championship trophy once again.  St. Xavier kept their momentum going, however, and jumped out to an early lead and maintaining that lead going into the 4th quarter winning 7-3.  They would score two goals in the 4th quarter and hold the Bears to only one which gave them the 9-4 victory and the school's 2nd State Championship, 1st since 1979.

The Bombers finished the season with a 28-10 overall record and never reliquished their #1 ranking in the State of Ohio all season.  The JV Bombers also won the Water Polo JV State Championship.
