All 3 of the St Xavier water polo teams entered in the Ohio Cup moved into the semi-final round of play on Sunday, Sept 13.

The JV games began at 8am Sunday morning. At the indoor pool, the JVA team faced Dayton Oakwood, a growing Varsity program, and beat them 15-4.  At the same time in the outdoor pool, with temps in the low 50s, JVB played and defeated Upper Arlington’s JV 10-7.  It would be an all Bomber JV Champ Final. Coaches held a heated debate while choosing sides for competitive teams, and the game ended in a 10-10 tie with a shootout and a JV Championship trophy for St X!

The Varsity team, also playing in the outdoor pool, faced Upper Arlington’s Varsity and held off an early lead by the  Bears to win 7-4 and advance to the Champ Final against Cathedral Prep from Erie, PA.  While the Bombers pulled off some late goals, they eventually lost 8-5 and return home with the 2nd place trophy.

The All-Ohio Cup teams were announced shortly before the Championship Final game and both Junior Patrick Hudak and Senior Alex Puthoff were named to the team.
