The Bombers Lacrosse team was rewarded with a 1st round bye and the opportunity to host the 2nd round game on their home field, Ballaban Field. They faced off against Oak Hills who advanced to the 2nd round with a win over Walnut Hills on Thursday evening. The Bombers did not waste much time before getting on the scoreboard first as junior Griffin Buczek found the back of the net 8 seconds into the game to put St. Xavier ahead 1-0. Senior William Holcomb added another goal for the Bombers about 2 minutes later to put the Bombers ahead 2-0. After the Highlanders scored to make it 2-1, Buczek scored again to make it 3-1 St. Xavier. Senior Jack Perez contributed the next two goals putting the Bombers out in front 5 to 1. Buczek found the net again to record a 1st quarter hat trick with 28 seconds left in the quarter and St. Xavier led 6 to 1 at the end of the opening quarter. Buczek contiuned his goal scoring by adding two more goals, both coming before a minute and a half into the 2nd quarter, to put the Bombers in command with an 8 to 1 lead. Perez posted his hat trick by scoring the Bombers' 9th goal. Sophomore Caleb Anderson got into the scorebook with a goal with 7:28 left in the 2nd quarter to put St. Xavier ahead 10 to 1. Buczek added another goal to give him 6 goals in the 1st half and junior George Thurner scored before the half to put the Bombers out ahead 12-1 at the halftime break. St. Xavier would add 7 more goals in the 3rd quarter and 3 more goals in the 4th quarter to win the game by a score of 22-1. St. Xavier will play Wednesday, May 27th vs. Loveland HS at home on Ballaban Field once again. The game is a rematch of a regular season game where St. Xavier won 8-4 and will begin at 7:00 pm.
Lacrosse Beats Oak Hills in 2nd Round
