Varsity Volleyball Wins 3-1 Over Moeller
The Varsity Volleyball team rebounded from a tough loss at Elder with a win over McNicholas on Tuesday night and had to travel to Moeller HS to battle the Crusaders on Thursday night. The Bombers continued their strong play and won the 1st set 25-19 and the 2nd set 25-13. Moeller battled back and won the 3rd set 25-17 but the Bombers came up victorious in the 4th set 25-19 to win the match 3 sets to 1. St. Xavier was led by senior Patrick Beer who recorded 41 assists, 10 digs, 6 aces and 3 kills. Senior Victor Viacava contributed with 11 digs, 2.5% on serve recieve with 18 attempts and senior Nick Talbot recorded 20 kills, 6 digs, 1 ace and 1 block. Senior Greg Martini contributed 8 kills and sophomore Cole Bretl came up with 10 digs. The Bombers total team effort continued with senior Michael Hartmann recording 4 blocks and 5 kills while senior Eric Spoelker contributing with 4 blocks and 5 digs. St. Xavier improves to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the GCL for the season. The Bombers will travel to Cleveland St. Ignatius this weekend to play 3 matches on Saturday, April 18th against Walsh Jesuit at Noon, St. Ignatius at 1:30 and Archbishop Hoban HS at 3:30.
