Community Service: Senior Spotlight – Joe Abou-Khalil '23 One of the most important aspects of the St. X experience for me has been community service. It's allowed me to meet new friends and learn more about myself, too. I found out that I really like working with children and that I'm capable of leading my fellow students in service activities. Over my four years, I've done service that is purely manual labor, I've worked with kids, I've helped at nature preserves, but my personal favorite is being on the canned food drive leadership team. Being able to witness firsthand how much food all of the homerooms brought in was incredible. I saw the impact St. X has on the community and I was inspired to get even more involved. As a result of service, I have grown into someone who is committed to doing justice and is striving to help our Cincinnati community in whatever ways I can. And, most importantly, it became the key aspect of my "Xperience" that I will continue to apply for the rest of my life. |

| Ignatian Spirituality Spotlight |
After his injury at the battle of Pamplona, St. Ignatius of Loyola experienced a profound conversion. During his long recovery at his family home in Loyola, he was offered two books to pass the time: the life of Christ, and the lives of the saints. He read these books with fervor and found himself inspired to change his life. From this moment, a deep desire to imitate the saints was enkindled within him. This desire to imitate the saints, and for each person to discover a personal calling to be a saint, contributed to the eventual founding of the Society of Jesus. The Society would eventually establish a community of Jesuit saints and blesseds who would inspire generations of future believers to give their lives for the greater glory of God. With over 70 biographies, both devotional and informational, compiled by Jesuits from around the world, this book aims to introduce this community of holy men and to contemporary readers and to inspire them to be selfless in their own pursuit of a greater good. |
