Scruggs credits his Catholic education at St. Vivians, St. X with his future success

He said he originally focused on football only as a way to make it to college with a scholarship. He wanted to use the sport as a springboard to a degree and a job.“By the grace of God, I was blessed with some abilities and some ability and some opportunities and I’m trying to make the most of it before they kick me out,” Scruggs said.He told the students he’s about to begin work on his master’s degree next month.“Getting into the school system it really set the base and the foundation for me, not only as a student, but as a person. It really helped me grow, and that’s why I made it a point to be here, because I’m really thankful for it,” Scruggs said.Scruggs went from St. Vivian's to St. X, where he was in band before being recruited to play football.Now, he’s a defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks.He’s already earned one Super Bowl ring, and could win another on Sunday, even though he won’t be playing because of the injured knee.
