Course Requests (World Languages/Fine Arts)- March 25

If you did not receive the email regarding online course requests, please contact Kellie Mayhan at  Please be sure to check your Junk and/or Spam folders in case it was caught by a filter.  The online course requests must be submitted in PowerSchool by Monday, March 25.

Each student at St. Xavier is required to complete a one semester Fine Arts course as a freshman and a one semester Fine Arts course as a sophomore. As an incoming freshman, you must choose which specific Fine Arts course you would like to enroll in for next year. You must choose one Primary and one Secondary Fine Arts course. Please understand that you are not guaranteed your Primary choice.

The Fine Arts Department at Saint Xavier High School offers a wide variety of course offerings. Each option is unique, challenging and rewarding.  Do not feel like you need to have prior experience in the course(s) that you might be interested in. The level one Fine Arts courses are designed to accommodate students that are interested building a foundational skill set and knowledge base, with the potential of expanding on and developing those attributes with additional courses in the future. Please review the descriptions of the freshman course offerings to help in your decision-making.

Note:  It is possible for students with prior experience in Strings or Guitar to be placed into a higher-level course. Please email Isaac Watras at for information about the auditioning process. Students interested in all other Fine Arts courses, regardless of prior experience, will be placed into level one of their chosen genre.

Students participating in Marching Band do not need to take Band as a course in order to be in the Marching Band. However, if the student is interested in taking Band as a course, he would request Band 1, as a freshman.
