Summer School Offerings
St. Xavier High School offers a variety of summer school options for incoming St. X freshmen. These courses are designed to assist and prepare incoming freshmen for the academic rigor of St. Xavier High School. This is also a great opportunity for freshmen to meet their future classmates prior to the school year beginning and to acquaint themselves with the surroundings of St. X.
Summer School will begin on Monday, June 3, 2019 for the courses "Intro to Math", "Intro to English", and "Study Skills". Registration will go live online at 6:00 a.m. Monday, February 18 (President’s Day). Summer School is extremely popular and enrollment fills quickly, especially for study skills. Last year over 300 incoming freshmen signed up for the 2-week study skills course.
SAT / PSAT Summer Session Preparation Course
St. Xavier High School invites members of the classes of 2018 and 2019 to participate in a SAT / PSAT Summer Session Preparation Course held at St. X on June 19, 20, 21, 22 as well as June 26, 27, 28, 29 from 6:00 – 8:15 each night.
St. X faculty member Scott Martin will offer the Math prep class and faculty members Henry Ahrens and Jim Telles will team up to offer the Verbal prep section.
Over this two-week period, each student will receive 9 hours of instruction in Math strategies and 9 hours of instruction in strategies for the 2 Verbal Sections of the SAT / PSAT. Studies have shown that the SAT / PSAT Prep Course is a great prep for the PSAT taken in October as well as the upcoming SAT starting with the Fall offerings.
This class is an ideal opportunity for students to become familiar with the thinking patterns necessary to choose a greater number of correct responses. Additionally, students will benefit from learning to analyze the wording of a question in order to choose the best response. Studies show that then practicing with these test taking strategies yields better results for most students.
This preparation course has a strong track record of enhancing their standardized test scores. The cost for this summer course is $185 and includes all materials.
Space is limited. Click here for more information on how to register for the course.
