This weekend was the 25th Annual Michael Benson Jazz Festival!
Michael was a member of the St. X Class of 1999, a National Merit Finalist and talented musician who was admitted to Michigan when he died in a car accident leaving his family and St. Xavier community in shock. Fellow members of the Class of 1999 rallied to create an endowment to support students at St. X as they grew in appreciation for music, especially Michael's favorite genre, Jazz. Through the years many have shared to support the Benson Family Trust in Michael's name.
Those in attendance were treated to many performances featuring The Phil DeGreg Trio, The Men for All Others Jazz Band, The Bomber Big Band, and World Renowned Jazz Vocalist, Jennifer Barnes.
A very special thank you to Bob and Rosalyn Benson for continuing to honor their son’s memory by supporting the Jazz program at St. Xavier High School.
