Hockey National Anthem

The Men in Black scored the highest possible scores this weekend at the annual Ohio Music Educators Association Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated event (OMEA S&E) which was hosted by Anderson High School. This event included many public and private schools from Southwest Ohio. Hundreds of high school students presented musical performances to earn ratings and comments from expert adjudicators. The ratings are I, the highest possible to V, the lowest possible. Performers are also placed in classes A, B, and C with A as the most advanced class.

Matthew Benton ’26 earned a rating of I with his performance of the third movement of the Concerto in g minor, Op. 12 No. 1 by Vivaldi in class B. Ben Truong ‘27 earned a rating of I with his performance of the first movement of the Bruch violin concerto in class A, and Safet Hatic III ‘27 earned a rating of I with his performance of a Sarabande and two minuets from a Bach Suite in class A. Benjamin Watras ’28 earned a rating of I for his performance of the first and second movements from the Sonata in E minor, Op. 14 by Vivaldi in class B.

After his performance at the OMEA S&E, Benjamin Watras went from Anderson High School to the Queen City Sport Complex to dress as member of the St. X Varsity Hockey team. In honor of his teammates who are seniors at St X, Benjamin played the national anthem on an electric cello before the game started!
