Last week St. Xavier High School received some international attention and kudos! Jacob Schlessman '25 was a presenter last week at the International Symposium on Service Learning, an international conference for academicians, community partners, college students, and nonprofits. The conference focuses on Global citizenship, the scholarship of engagement and service learning. The conference began in 2005. Jacob is the first high school student to present at the conference!
He presented on his experience engaging in service at St. X, especially highlighting the impact that the morality and justice with service course has had on him. At the end of the presentation, he received a global scholar medal.
During the three day conference, Jacob had a chance to meet and engage with individuals from organizations and universities from around the world who are passionate about service. The conference included ~50 presentations. At the end of the three day conference, there is a closing ceremony where they give out four presentation awards. Jacob received one of these, the “Most Motivational Presentation” award.
Congratulations, Jacob!
