Dr. Kritsky talks to a classroom of students

Earth Day is the perfect day to host Dr. Gene Kritsky, Dean of Natural Sciences from Mount Saint Joseph University about the upcoming cicada emergence. Dr. Kritsky explained to students in Dr. Laughlin's class, before speaking to interested students at Flex, that there are cicadas all the time but there are a few species of cicadas that are periodical. Brood X is expected to emerge in Cincinnati in May. Dr. Kritsky revealed the Cicada Safari app and asked for students to submit cicada photos, record measures of soil temperature and sound measurement while the cicadas are here.
