Men for & with Others

                                                     Wrestling

Here at the Saint Xavier High School Wrestling program we are committed to developing the Jesuit ideal of the student athlete. Our goal is to help our student athletes achieve their fullest potential as an individual wrestler while at the same time fomenting powerful feelings of community, family, and teamwork. We want our wrestlers to know what it means to be a part of the Saint Xavier community and to know what it feels like and takes to be a part of the family that our wrestling team will be. We use the wrestling mats as a launching pad to bring the Jesuit ideals into real life practice for our athletes. We stress that these values are lived, not just talked about, not just during the season or during practices, or even during high school, but every day of life, and this is what defines a moral man. By developing a sense of pride in being a part of the long blue line we will hold high standards to our athletes, because being a part of such a tradition has high demands. We seek to create passionate winners, gracious losers, but most of all fierce competitors endowed with good sportsmanship who embrace challenge. We will accomplish all of these things by vigorously exercising our athletes mentally, physically, and spiritually every day while emphasizing to our athletes that they have four years with the program during which steady improvement can be made from their freshman year until they emerge as seniors at the culmination of their high school journey.

Sincerely,

Coach Tim “Mac” McDonald
