Bomber Twins Sign Letters of Intent
A pair of St. Xavier High School seniors took advantage of the NCAA’s early signing period to ink letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers in college. The signees are twin brothers, Ryan and Sean Bandy. Both are standout St. Xavier tennis players and both plan to matriculate to Catholic schools.
The athletic department hosted a signing ceremony Nov. 12 in the school library to celebrate the milestone.
Ryan Bandy signed with the University of Notre Dame. Sean Bandy signed with the University of Dayton. Ryan and Sean are the sons of Steven and Sheila Bandy.
Ryan and Sean helped lead the Bombers to the coaches’ association state team title in tennis last spring. Ryan won 6-0, 6-0 in his championship match at first singles against Shaker Heights High School. Sean won 6-0, 6-1 in the finals at third singles.
“Ryan and Sean have worked hard to get to this point, and we’re proud of them,” said John Sullivan, St. X athletic director. “The Bandys have been a big part of our success in tennis for a long time. They’ve learned a lot, on and off the court, and what they have learned in one arena they’ve applied in the other. It’s exciting to see them move on and continue to represent St. X in college. We wish them the best of luck, congratulate their family and look forward to watching their continued success.”
The Bandy twins are not alone in their tennis skills. Older brother Patrick Bandy (’08) is a former Bomber state champion now playing for the Xavier University tennis team, setting up both a sibling rivalry and an Atlantic 10 Conference rivalry with Sean.
