St. Xavier High School continued a new tradition of holding a series of informal lunches designed to connect benefactors that assist in funding tuition assistance through a named endowment or through a Loyola Club sponsorship with the students who are the recipients of their generosity.
This was the second year for St. Xavier to host the March 22, March 29 and April 5 lunches on the students’ turf and during the school day which enabled more students to attend -due to less conflicts with cocurricular activities. The intimate setting of the Reynolds Room allowed for more one on one conversations between students and their benefactors, although it was hard for our students to talk between mouthfuls of pulled pork barbecue, coleslaw and macaroni and cheese!
More than 130 benefactors attended and lunched with 100+ students. Some of the benefactor/student relationships were new, while some have been cultivated since the students were freshman. All enjoyed meeting and getting to know each other better.
We cannot thank our benefactors enough for attending –some flew in and drove many miles to attend- and for providing the financial assistance these students need to attend St. Xavier. We are very proud of the young men who attended the lunches and represented St. Xavier magnificently!
