St. Xavier High School Strategic Plan
For the Greater Good
Mission & Overview
For more than 180 years St. Xavier High School has maintained an extremely high standard of excellence in the pursuit of its mission, which is to “assist young men in their formation as leaders and men for others through rigorous college preparation in the Jesuit tradition.” To sustain and enhance this standard of excellence, it’s imperative that we periodically engage in intentional and meaningful reflection of the critical success factors most relevant to St. Xavier.
A broad group of stakeholders is undertaking a collaborative and directed conversation on three important questions that will enable St. Xavier High School to better accomplish its mission over the next five to seven years:
Where are we today?
Where do we need to be in the future?
How do we get there?
The answers to the questions will form the heart of a new strategic plan that is scheduled to be formally approved by board of trustees in September 2012.
Strategic plans are designed to build upon one another and have a long-term, cumulative impact on an organization. While St. Xavier’s bicentennial year of 2031 is a long way off, the date provides an excellent milestone upon which to base this phase of our planning. This strategic plan and its eventual outcomes will no doubt become a launching pad for the next strategic plan, which will likely be crafted about 10 years from now and culminate with the 200th anniversary of our founding.
As we consider what a vibrant and successful St. Xavier looks like in the future, we must thoughtfully review the current state of our efforts and, more importantly, realize a future that builds upon our core values and mission to reach new heights of achievement. In the spirit of magis and of building on the great traditions of the school, maintaining the status quo is simply unacceptable.
Goals & Critical Success Factors
A planning committee consisting of faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, students, parents and trustees has been formed to lead the strategic planning process. This committee is divided into planning teams with specific areas of focus: formation and Catholic/Jesuit identity; education and faculty; building and grounds; information technology; finance and advancement; marketing and enrollment.
The development of a new strategic plan will guide St. Xavier’s decisions, priorities and goals for the next five to seven years and focus on the following critical success factors:
- Academic Excellence
- Catholic and Jesuit Identity
- Student Formation
- Enrollment Management
Financial Managment, Investment of Endowment and other Financial Resources
- Marketing and Promotion
- Care for Facilities, Buildings and Grounds
- Faculty Staff recruitment, Development and Retention
Information Technology Utilizations and Literacy
