Reminder: Summer Reading List
As we approach the end of summer be sure that you have completed the required reading for the new school year.
All of the book titles below are available in the St. X Bookstore. Essays for sophomores are available on Edline (information below). The bookstore will be closed beginning July 19 and reopens August 16. Most of these titles can be found in local area book stores.
Incoming Freshmen - Class of 2014:
"Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card
"Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury
"Alive..." by Piers Paul Read (for religion classes)
"Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway (for English classes)
English essays: along with The Old Man and the Sea, your other required summer reading consists of four essays. Links to the essays can be found on Edline. Under “Contents,” select “Library” and then “Summer Reading Assignments.” At the top of the page, you will see a tab for “Sophomore (class of 2013) essays – To Be Read." Please read all four essays by the first day of class, and in addition print out and annotate “Is Google Making Us Stupid” and “Almost Before We Spoke, We Swore.”
