The mid-October PSAT/NMSQUT TEST is important for all students because it enables them to forecast their performance on the March SAT administration. The attainment of a high index number may establish a potential national merit scholar. Analysis of the PSAT/NMSQT reveals the strengths and weaknesses of each student. Therefore, students have ample time ot concentrate on vocabulary improvement and adjust new approaches to success before the March SAT administration.
Standardized testing is based on a “on-the-spot” analysis of material students have never seen before. Remember, a student can be on the honor roll for his achievements in the subjects he diligenthly studies, but may find standardized testing intimidating because of time constraints, lack of confidence, or has the need for background when interpreting excerpts. What is the answer? Just as in sports, practice is necessary. The SAT and ACT present problem-solving situations where students have to use new insights to choose the correct answer, usually simply a degree better than the “second-best” choice.
Logic is being measured as well as high ability in reading, writing, and amath. Students who practice the techniques do improve their scores. High stress is reduced when a student knows how to use rational judgment correctly. Each student is an individual and should analyze every mistake. He must know himself and focus on why his misdirected choice was chose.
