Ensemble X Prepares for World Choir Games
The World Choir Games is the Olympics of choral music. Hosted by Interkultur, it is the largest biennial international choral competition of its kind. This year, the event will be held in Cincinnati from July 4 – 14, 2012 and the St. Xavier Bombers will be there.
Led under the direction of Karl Thomsen, thirty two St. Xavier High School students will perform as the group Ensemble X. Ensemble X is a combination of two select groups, Something Blue and Rhythm & Blue. Their program features two pieces in Estonian; one Spanish piece; one English piece and a closing piece in Latin. Thematically, the pieces are connected by the following progression: Unrest to Eternal Rest.
Ensemble X has been holding three-hour practices once a week since the end of May to prepare for this amazing opportunity. They will sing in the Young Male Category beginning Friday, July 6 at 7:00 pm in the Mayerson Theater at SCPA. Ensemble X is set to perform at 8:45pm. The Awards ceremony for this category takes place on Sunday, July 8 at 10:00am at US Bank Arena.
